EE Vent! Ha!

Ok, ordered 8 pullets. 4 died within a day (yes, preheated brooder and dipped beaks in water). Of the 4 remaining... two of them are cockerels. Of the 4 remaining, ONLY the cockerels have beards and tufts!

I still love them.. just wish my pullets were more EE like! ha!

(and never getting any more chicks from this place - local feed store who got the chicks from a hatchery in Iowa)

Yes, I would say 'vent.' That is a bad day for sure, one can never tell with livestock what will happen. And much of the determining factors occurred outside of your control as well. So I suppose all one can do is to love the survivors and learn from the experience. There is a old Hollywood line that goes something like, never work with animals and children.

This is one of the reasons to be wary of whom we deal with in getting new birds. I know it will not help in the least, but I am sorry for your loss. Young lives gone too early always makes me sad.
