So I've had an incubation disaster. Out of 20 eggs (3 large breed, 17 bantams) only 4 have hatched. They were given to their adoptive mama along with 4 remaining 'slow' eggs from my deathtrap incubator. Mama and chicks hopped off the remaining eggs while I was out today and the 4 remaining eggs were stone cold so I gave up all hope. Just now, 7.50pm my time, I went downstairs with a torch and candled the remaining eggs to see if they even pipped the aircells in some kind of futile post incubator-topsy. And there's movement in one!! A little silkie egg. The egg was stone cold but I've put it back under mama and have unpacked the incubator and turned it on again just in case mama gets up in the morning to follow the chicks around. What are it's chances?? Please tell me good things. Has this ever happened to you?
