Hello everyone
One of my chicken sustained leg injury after it jumped from 10th floor roof
Since then it cant stand or walk
Its gradually improving
Yesterday it was able to stand for a brief moment
For last 1week it is staying at my room
Today at dawn I noticed it had an egg stuck. It seems to be a soft shell egg. Now it has been hours already yet it shows no sign of improving. I already gave it an Epsom salt bath.
For about 3.5hrs now same condition.
What should I do
Please suggest. Have no access to vets around here

That is looking very uncomfortable for her.

I am not chicken expert, but someone here will help you. I just tag a BYC experts here that might be online to help your little hen.

In the past I have a few hens that went through softshell eggs, and I gave them epsom salt bath, keep them isolate and in quiet, they did eventually pass the egg. 1 did not by her own after a long wait, I gently held her in an up right position and very gently massage her tummy, the egg dropped out.

Your little hen looking like she is working every hard to do it. I hope some exert here to help you.

Thank you so much

I would give some human calcium or Tums to help her pass an egg if there is one present. She has a prolapsed vent, and the red tissue needs to be kept moist with honey or vaseline or other oil, so that it doesn’t dry out. when the swelling goes down, hopefully it will go back in
I gave it calcium vit D combination 500mg, I was using coconut oil on the red tissue

Prolapse was only increaseing but the egg was not moving at all, so I had to use cotton stick to expand the vent first gently to open it. After that I used my hand to help it push it down. A soft shelled egg came down. But the size was quite big. After the egg came out I used luke warm flowing water to clean the vent and push it inward as the prolapse was not going in by itself. My chicken was getting weak so I had no choice but to intervene. What should be my next steps to prevent this situation and other complications.
Also thank you so much everyone, your advices helped me stay in positive mindset.

Glad that you were able to get the egg out. Calcium tablet once a day for a few more days can help if her shells are weak or if another egg gets stuck. A prolapse may be swollen for a few days, and can keep coming out for up to a week. So, it is best to keep the tissue from drying out. Honey or sugar syrup may help reduce swelling, and can be used, but any olive or vegetable oil, vaseline, or hemorrhoid cream works.
