Egg bound hen help!

I think she is probably fine. When they are up and about acting normally, I don’t worry. When they become lethargic or separate themselves, and have a lowered tail, that is when to worry.

Get some calcium into her right away. Calcium citrate with D 3 300 mg up to 600 mg is best, but other calcium or Tums will help in the meantime. Those can help with muscle contraction. Offer fluids. Is her vent area bulging or swollen?
I had the same problem right now with a first time layer she laid a tiny egg this morning, but she still acting droopy and won’t go outside. Where do you get the 600 mg calcium? What form does it come in and how do you administer it?

I already had 300 mg vitamin D so I gave her one of those and then I got just plain 600 mg calcium and I’m gonna tell you that’s a whopper of a pill and she did not want it but I broke it in half and finally got her to take it and then I mashed up some grower feed I had left over and kept putting it in her beak until finally she started eating some on her own, but not much now she’s back in the run asleep. I guess time will tell.
