I've spent a lot of time reading/searching, but having found this specific thing.
I have 5 chickens, and 4 of the 5 have been laying for about 2 weeks. However, one americana has not.
For at least a week she is quick to squat and lift her tail when you reach to her. She'll let you pet her and squeeze her, and really do whatever you want. She is 24 weeks old. She is not walking around like a penguin, she is still eating and drinking just fine. She is usually the first chicken to run up to the coop when they hear me opening the door.
Is it normal for a chicken to do the squatting/tail up/petting routine for that long? At least a week of that and honestly probably closer to 2 weeks.
Is it possible for the first ever egg to be egg bound?
Thanks for the input!
