I was just sitting with my chickens when I noticed one hen acting weird. Staying away from the others, puffed up, not eating grass like usual, with some liquid leaking from her vent. Every once in a while she was squatting. Of course a quick Google search says she's egg bound. She's not easily handled so it took me a few minutes to catch her. I had her wrapped in a towel and was carrying her in the house when the egg shot out of her onto my foot. My question is, is she okay now, or do I need to do something else for her to make sure she's fine? After the egg some clear goop came out of her. She's already eating. I replenished their free choice oyster shell and the dog cleaned up the smashed egg. Will she be okay?

If the egg did not break inside the hen's body she should be OK. Her eating is a good sign. Just keep an eye on her for now ad chances are good all will be well by tomorrow.

Good news you got it out. Risk of infection .biggest problem is pieces left. Sterilize. Many people have reported good sucess with preparation h . Original no additives. Applicator works good.

Hard to know if she was actually egg bound or just delinquent in getting to a nest when ready to lay.
Is this a new layer?
Was the egg hard shelled....or was it thin or soft?
