I have a hen who’s been getting progressively unbalanced over the last couple days. She got more nervous and sensitive to touch, hid in their trailer all day from the rooster (who she usually isn't bothered by), and last night i found her sleeping on the floor. Her right leg wasn’t holding much of her weight, and she trips over her toes when she tries to turn around.
This morning when i checked on her i felt something stuck in between her leg and her breastbone. It feels like an egg, but it is not at all where an egg should be. Maybe she laid an egg internally? I’m worried that it’s cutting off circulation or nerves to her leg.
She drank, ate and pooped this morning. Seemed a little bit pale, but other than not wanting to walk she’s pretty alert. I have her in a kennel in the coop since i don’t think it’s something contagious.
We’re in the process of moving right now, and the chickens are all in a horse trailer at my grandmother’s house. Im not able to take her to a vet; is there something i can do to help her? I really don’t want to put her down.

Can you get some pictures of the lump? I know it may be a bit difficult, but if people can see it may help, up close and in focus. Is it hard or soft, does it move or is it stuck in one spot? A tumor is a possibility, which would account for the leg issues. How old is she, and do you know when she last laid? Was she attacked by the flock, her comb looks injured also? You can use some plain neosporin on the comb, or veterycin spray.

I'll try when I check on them tonight. It's solid, feels exactly like an egg but I can't tell. If it was a tumor I think it would've been more gradual in it's appearance; I didn't find it til yesterday night and she'd been fine the whole day.
She turns two this spring, not sure when she last laid but I know it's been awhile. She's really tiny so she does get picked on, especially the last couple days. I have something that I'm using for her comb.
Thanks for the reply :)

I was unable to get a picture, but whatever it was doesn't feel like an egg anymore. It had softened some but there's still a hard partin it's center.

I was doing see research on mineral deficiencies, since she's acting simar to a golf I had a couple years ago who died unexplainably (jittery and sensetive rather than her typical cuddly self). The article I found said that an abundance of chloride in her system could be causing the balance problems. We just moved them to Arizona from Colorado, and there are a ton more minerals in the water here (Like chlorine and other city trash).
