Do you know how long this has been going on? She has a prolapsed vent and maybe a stuck egg. Give a human calcium with vitamin D tablet, or a Tums if that is all you have. That can help the muscle contractions to expel the egg. Then place her in a shallow pan or sink of warm soapy water or Epsom salts water, and leave her there for 20 minutes trying to keep her calm. Lubricate her vent with vaseline or oil, and try to maneuver the egg out if possible.

We think two days. She roosted early the other day. I thought she was just tired of our young roo. Her comb had a sore spot.

She was still roosting yesterday afternoon when I got home. So, I picked her up. I got this gooey white stuff on my shirt and she smelled bad. She went in a warm bath with episome salt.

I sat her on the bathroom floor with a little food and oiled her vent. Somehow she managed to poop a little.

I put her in our dog crate with food and water until hubby got home. She ate and drank.

We soaked her again. Gave her tums. Greased it up and worked the egg out. We put her back in the crate with food and water.

This morning, she’s eating and drinking water with vitamins. Vent is prolapsed. I want to push it back in, but some of it is black. I don’t know if it’s stuck feathers or not. The yeast smell is strong. I was going to get some regular Walmart treatment for that.

Should I just push it back in? Should I wait until the yeast is gone? Would it be kinder to cull the bird? Is she in pain?

Was your bird able to recover? I have tried everything you listed with my chicken.. she is in a brooder tonight. Hoping that by morning an egg or poop will be below her.
