I'm hoping someone can help me! We moved in to a farmhouse 5 years ago and this chicken came with the house, so needless to say, i have no idea how old she is. She is an Easter Egger and stopped laying eggs probably over a year ago. She hasn't felt good for about the past 3 days. I noticed her laying in the coop a lot and not wanting to come out w/ the rest. and her backside was very dirty. i went to wash her backside 2 days ago and I SWEAR i feel an egg about 2 inches below her vent. It has also been 95+ degrees here, so I brought her inside and for the past 2 days....have put her in my chicken playpen given her water with electrolytes (she is eating a drinking a BIT), and then yesterday i gave her a little yogurt with a tums crushed up in it and boy she actually liked that! I have soaked her 3 times for 20+ mins each in epsom salts and massaged her underside. I put melted coconut oil on a gloved finger last night and i didn't know if i should go directly back or down with my finger so i didn't go far, but i didn't feel anything (but the "egg" i feel like i see if further down than my finger went). She's pooping, but it is just watery with little bits in it. Some people say when they are egg bound they "can't poop" but i don't think that totally true. She is a geriatric chicken...could this still be egg bound? I don't "think" it's water belly b/c the only bulge i see/feel is egg shaped 2 inched below her vent and nothing in between her legs. She is also all puffed up. I have attached some pics that will hopefully help. Any help is appreciated !

I had a hen who we thought was egg bound, but nothing we did was working to get the egg out. Even my local vet thought it was an egg and gave me calcium gluconate injections to give her. However, after about (I think) 4 days with no change, I took her to my out-of-town vet who found that it was NOT an egg but an infection of her uterus. The hard thing we were feeling was her uterus filled with pus, basically. The doc did a hysterectomy on her to fix the issue.

I suggest you take her to the vet to get an x-ray if that's possible.
