Brought in my golden comet Garlic because she has bumble foot. She was panting and had her wings open before i picked her up so i thought maybe because she was hot (it wasnt too hot today). Shes still panting and has her eings open inside, been in here for about 2 hours and its 70 degreea inside. I felt for an egg and i can feel an egg shape, but no shell. Am i feeling a bone? Shes only 10 months old 😞

Pretty sure she laid yesterday. I can only feel it inside of her. Stands fine. Not sure about her crop in the morning, seems ok now, but im keeping her in tonight so ill check.

I should have also said that she was out of the run today. Not sure if she ate something she shouldnt- we have a few that are usually out and i dont think theres anything toxic on the property except the eggplant and tomatoe plants, but theyre allllll the way on the other side so im not sure. I soaked her in epsoms and shes doing mucb better now.

I don't worry about toxic plants, they generally avoid natural things they shouldn't eat. You do need to worry about unnatural things like styrofoam, nails, screws, string, metal springs, oil drips from machinery, etc., though. Glad she's improved.

Sorry I forgot to add you can give her this once a day for five to seven days. If you don't have a helper, take her off the roost at night, wrap her in a towel. Pull down gently but firmly on her wattles and she'll open her beak. If the pill seems large to you, don't worry, a hen can swallow a mouse whole.

Indeed. Wrap her snugly in a towel and tuck her like a football under your non-dominant arm, holding her snugly against your body. Use your non-dominant hand to pull down on her wattles and with your dominant hand pop the pill into her mouth. It does get easier with practice, but it really helps to have a helper to hold her. Did you manage to get the pill down her?

I havent done it yet but i dont think shell give me a problem.
Her crop is perfect. Shes walking around with her mouth open and i hear whistling. It sounds like somethings blocking but shes not in distress anymore (last night she had almost a stridor going).I cleaned her nostrils last night and put some vetrx on them thinking that might have been the issue because she was doing that then too. I looked in her mouth and i dont see anything. Im so lost! This is my first time ever having chickens and she was from our first set back in december so shes my baby!
