We have a hen that is isolating, not eating, lethargic, and waddling around for the last 3 days and at one point had excrement stuck all over her feathers. We're wondering whether she's egg bound or whether there's something else going on? We've given her daily soaks in warm water, which she seems to like and we've put some vaseline on her vent to lubricate. Poor girl. We feel so bad for her. Any other suggestions?

What color is the discharge? Have you noticed any lash eggs? Is she a hybrid? what color is her comb?

Does her abdomen feel bloated, below the vent between the legs, either water balloon like or very firm? Compare with another if you aren't sure. Do you know when she last laid normally? Egg bound birds usually cannot pass droppings and would not live 3 days in that condition, so more likely a different reproductive problem.
