Help! I have a nine month old buff orphington who is spending all her time in one of the nest boxes! She does get out and roost with the others at night. Today is her third day of doing this. I took her out to check her vent, which looked fine. I put her back in the box, she jumped out walked in a circle and got back in the box. I'm wondering if she could be egg bound? She has normal poop, I wasn't sure if they can still poop if they are egg bound?

Are you sure that she is not starting to go broody?

Could be. So when they get broody, they just want to stay on the nest? How do you tell the difference?

If she is becoming broody, she will eventually sit on the nest overnight, fluff up and squawk when you approach her - if eggbound I think that she would have rapidly deteriorated over a 3 day period.

Ok thanks, I have probably just read too much, and I do worry about my girlies!
