I want to know which one is better for the eggs during lockdown. Egg cartons or normal laying the eggs down on there side or cardboard rings? Thanks!

I am laying them on their sides. I have another batch going on lockdown in a few days and I may try the ring method. I will wait and see how the first batch goes first. I do think it is a personal preference as many on here have a way that works best for them that seems not to work for others.

So far as anyone has been able to determine by actual experimentation the answer is....

It's entirely up to your personal preference.

Doesn't seem to make any difference one way or the other.

I still don't know which one. I was going to do the egg cartons until 2 people said they were going to put the eggs on rings. anyone else have opinions?

I have been hatching in egg cartons, and have been very happy with them. The eggs don't get kicked arround and the chicks hatch very quickly.

i go on lockdown tomorrow and i am going to be using the rings, i think its a great idea, eggs still lay flat but get booted less
