Hey everyone. So, this may be a silly question, but I'm curious! I have 2 mature easter egger hens and both have all the "signs" of laying. For the last week ive been collecting a green/blue egg a day and I'm pretty sure its from one hen specifically! But here's the question. Out of these 2 birds, is it possible for both of them to lay basically the exact same colored eggs? Like, could both hens be laying but can't tell the difference as their eggs are the same color? I figured its just the one hen and the other hasn't started yet, but it got me thinking anyway. Any thoughts are appreciate and have an egg-cellent day!

I have two EEs and an Americauna and all three of their eggs look the same. I often get three a day meaning all three laid and until my Americauna went broody and hatched eggs, they were indiscernible. She didn't lay for about 2 months (2 weeks before I set eggs, 3 before they hatched, and several more weeks until she laid) and her eggs are now a slightly darker blueish green than the other two presumably because she had a long break in laying.

Good information! Thanks for Sharing! Im only getting 1 egg a day currently so I think its safe to assume that its all from the same hen. But they are the same age and breed so I thought maybe there was a chance lol. I look forward to seeing what the other does produce for color! I won't be surprised if they are very similar now tho lol

I think it’s possible that they can lay different shades. It all depends on the breeder because EEs can lay a range from greenish to blue and a small chance of being a brown egg layer.

I just received a new egg yesterday and today! These ones are much lighter and also a bit smaller. Its officially safe to say both hens are laying, and their eggs are similar but definitely different 😀. And to add to it. My one pullet from this spring laid her first egg this morning!!! You mentioned the less frequent brown egg from an EE? Go figure, that's what she gave me 😂 top row of large green/blue eggs from the first hen, 2 blue ones are from the hen I was questioning. And the brown egg from my pullet today! It surprisingly large (in my opinion) for a pullet egg. I'm thrilled!

Love the colors! I have two EEs myself but they are a couple months out from laying. I sure hope I can get some pretty eggs too 😋
