I was just wondering if there is anything you can feed that will affect the intensity of the color of the shell.

In the winter I do give them sweet potatoes, which is a pretty healthy snack, and it seems to keep the color of the yolk more orange.

But the shell--I like nice, dark shells, and also deep blue shells. Of course, I do understand that genetics is the main thing here, but I wondered if there was anything else that would matter.

For example, with my dogs, I give them wild salmon oil, which keeps their coats really lovely and shiny.

So I thought there might be something similar with egg shells.

i have started giving them lots of Black Oil Sunflower Seeds, and I keep hearing that is very good for them.

As far as I know shell color is all about genetics. Mine get much darker yolks when the grass is growing good and they are eating more greens, but I've never noticed any change in the shell color.

Sounds like you want either Black Copper Marans or Welsummers

I have feed my Ameraucana's something that has made the eggs darker,
I just don't know what it was.
They tend to be darker after my day off,
because I feed them lots of treats then.
By the end of the week they are lighter again.
I also heard that Cinnamon will give the Marans eggs a red color.
Don't know this to be true.
