Curious if the density of a hatching egg may tell you anything about it?
Fertilized or non-fertilized?
Sucessfull hatch vs being a quitter?
Regular yolk or double yolker?
Regular shell vs porous shell?
Rooster or hen?

I've figured up a several of my eggs and get anything from 0.993 to 1.084 g/cm3.

Well my rooster aint doing his job or something because most my eggs are infertile. Kinda bummed me out. I'm having to do a staggered hatch so I'll hopefully have enough chicks to brood.

But looking at my first batch of eggs, density doesn't mean anything as far as fertility goes. High was 1.081 and low was 1.040, both infertile.

I do realize eggs will get less dense as they get older, such as storing them, but have no ideal what kinda numbers would indicate too old to hatch. For instance I had a fresh egg with 1.042 density and after 5 days of storage it went down to 1.027 and is a viable egg at this point.
