Egg dropper

I have a new hen that lays her egg early morning from the roosting bar. It's almost every morning when I go to let them out of the coop. Needless to say the egg breaks. I have placed a box filled with straw beneath her to try to catch it but she doesn't always roost in the same spot every night. How can get her to lay in the nesting box?

Is this a newly laying pullet or a new to you hen?

Are the nests easy to access and of a good size?

Using fake eggs and/or golf balls can help entice them to use the nests.

I hope you get some answers I just asked the same question except mine is a newly laying pullet nesting boxes are easy access and a good size and trying the ping pong ball....just don't want the other chickens to get a taste of egg from the broken one and cause a bigger problem...oh problem chicken...
