I have 3 eggs left out of 12 that I bought, one hatched yesterday and is doing fine, one has pipped this morning and looking normal, but the third one, half the shell is missing and it's quite bloody. So far the chick is still alive in the sac but I'm doubtful it will live. Is there anything I can do or is it too late? I think mum has been pecking at it as literally almost half the shell is gone. Sounds daft but can I wrap it in anything or is it hopeless? :(

Just keep the membrane moist. Maybe put some bacitracin on it?? Is it still under the hen or in an incubator?

I'm sad to say it's died. The other one hatched just now and is a strong looking chick. The one that died looked a lot further behind than the other 2. Quite a large yolk sac and lots of blood vessels. Not sure why it would be so far behind the others as all the eggs were set under our hen at the same time. Never mind, 2 out of 12 is better than none! It's the chance you take when buying eggs off eBay! Although we have done this 3 times before and had no problems and a higher hatch rate. But I'm happy with 2 healthy chicks! They best both be hens!!

Congrats on the two hatchers.
