So with 13 chickens 6 are laying. I have had weeks of perfect eggs from small as expected to getting larger. 5, late this morning layed their normal eggs. I found another one this evening. It was formed but paper thin shell. the yolks and white were normal. It broke when I picked it up. Could this be a new layer with not enough calcium? One of my chickens doesnt lay every day. Maybe its hers. I dont know.
thoughts please.

It sounds like more of a hiccup in somebody's system than something to worry about at this stage. I wouldn't worry unless it continues to happen.

Providing oyster shell grit is important (just offer it in a separate bowl and they'll eat what they need) as it's a slow release source of calcium and provides them with calcium overnight when they aren't actively eating as it slowly breaks down in their gizzard.

Thank you!! I will do that. My husband suggested that, but I thought the layer feed would provide enough calcium. He's going to say,"I told ya so".. 🤦‍♀️

I bought oyster shell. The minute I put in in for them. One gobbled it down Maybe she is my calcium deficient lady. The rest ate a bit. So the layer feed isnt enough for some. They also love greens more than food. Yes they do eat their feed. I will post later on the soft egg!
