I am BRAND NEW to raising chickens - but I think I have found my favorite hobby! My bantam hen went broody, so I saved up 6 eggs and put them under her. Marked it on the calendar (and researched hours and hours on the internet!!) - and 20 days later one egg actually hatched!! My husband and I kicked it into high gear to get a 'nursery' ready for the new arrival! It is pretty much the cutest thing I have ever seen =)
Now for my questions - how long will my baby chick need its mama? She has been taking very good care of her (I think its a her? I hope?) but I wasn't sure when I can introduce my hen back to my flock of 5 other hens and 1 rooster. The chick is 1 month old today, but I want to make sure it will be warm and not too lonely in a pen by itself (where it can still see other chickens) until it grows bigger.
Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!
