Egg Hutch Wide Enough?

Hello!

First timer with six 3 month pullets (2 Wyandotte, 2 Cuckoo Maran, 2 EE) ...wondering about my egg hutch design...

I have a 3 gang egg hutch, each compartment is about 10 inches wide. It's currently blocked off.

Most of what I've read says 12 inch is ideal and some breeds may even have a hard time turning around in a 12 inch box....

What do you think?

I wasn't going to worry about it till they are laying and I can actually observe them trying to use it...but don't want them to refuse the boxes get in the habit of laying elsewhere.

I am currently building a coop and have also read that it should be 12"x12"x12". Five chickens per nesting box. I have 3 nesting boxes and definitely not 15 chickens lol.

I was thinking about converting in into a 2 gang? Unless the general consensus is to leave as is.
