(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
This is my first year with chickens. I have been dreaming about them for a long time, and finally the time was right to bring chickens home. But I am a big researcher, and read every article I could find and a couple of books over the last 4 years.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

3! And they are perfect happy pullets!

I'm hoping to add 2-3 chickens next year, and maybe a bantam.

(3) What breeds do you have?

2 barred rocks and 1 rhode island red.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Lots of research. Forum posts and articles kept popping up.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I like to hike, and I'm getting ready for my first backpacking trip this summer. We have lots of trails here in Georgia and I plan on exploring them all!

I also love to garden, I grew over 150lbs of tomatoes last year. Most of them went to family and friends as well as into jars for canned tomatoes and salsa.

My mom frequently tells me that my grandmothers would be proud. I've taken on a lot of "old school" hobbies, but really it comes down to the fact that I like to make things and work with my hands. I try a lot of things.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am a full time stay at home mama, and I work for myself on the side as a graphic designer and web developer. I live with my husband and infant son. We also have a 3 year old Labrador, who has taken to the chickens well. I think he thinks they are puppies, because he tries to play with them, but they are chickens...

About my screenname
I have a dream of having a farm. My husband doesn't like this name, but I want to call it Crazy Face Farms. Doing things myself, and getting them right makes me so happy. I feel like I get "crazy face" when I talk about those things. It is just so rewarding to make a beautiful loaf of bread or pick a perfect plum.

Welcome! :yesss: We are glad you joined our flock!
Jump right in and make yourself at home.
I like the name and I too like to do things myself and get them right (even if it's the hard way) :thumbsup

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
