egg laying area

our chickens are very much free range we feed them in an area where we are trying to enc them for the night

they never been locked in mother makes a lot of noise this is the area she lays her eggs there.

Is it because it is her laying area ?or just because she doent want to be locked in.:|

She may not want to be locked in. I have had chickens roost in trees right outside the coop. I shut the gate every night at dusk, most of the time they are all inside. I think the ones that like to roost in the trees like to be the FIRST to my back door for treats!!! good luck.

I give all mine a treat at night before bed, inside the henhouse...believe me, they all come piling in when they see me coming:>)

I am another one to give treats at bed time. Not because of not going to roost at dark but for the fact I have to be up by 3 am for work. My eyes are slaming shut by dark. John
