Egg Laying Countdown... 16 weeks :-)

I have 10 Pullets that are 16 weeks old (1 Australorp, 2 Amerucanas, 2 Wyandottes, and 5 Red Stars). I am not expecting eggs yet, but I am excited to expect eggs in the next month to 2!! They have been in an out of their nest boxes for a few weeks now. A few (3 Red Stars and Rico the Australorp) have started their bawk, bawk, bawking versus just clucking and they are all getting their red faces and combs. Not sure about squatting... can't say I am entirely sure what to be watching for

But they all seem to be happy and on track. We aren't getting scorching hot temperatures like the rest of the nation (80 at the highest... in the sun), so hopefully that won't affect them.

Anyone else have 16 week old pullets waiting to lay?

I have three 19 week old easter eggers I'm waiting on. I want my blue or green or pink or brown eggs darn it! I tell them daily to get on it and stop being a bunch of free loaders, mama's hungry.

Got our first eggs today! At 16 weeks!! One was out in the yard, first thought it was a small rock... the other was in the coop in a corner, no where near the boxes lol.




I am pretty sure it was laid by two of the 5 Red Stars... probably the two Bawk Bawk Bawking up a storm.

Tell your EEs to hurry up darn it! Its rude to keep you waiting in suspense... their eggs are so pretty

I still have 8 other pullets who I am not expecting to lay for another 2 months at least. It is interesting that these 2 (out of 5 'sisters') are so much ahead of the game!

The Red Stars have given me 4 eggs now! 2 the first day then 1 each of the next two days! I have been so excited to get home and check for those itty bitty eggs.

So far the Stars are the only ones bawking up a storm so I still counting for the others! We will be at 17 weeks for the stars tomorrow, Monday is 17 weeks for the others.

Still waiting on my EE's, but I did see my roo mount one of them this afternoon so not long now!!
