I've always read that chickens that are bred for high egg production such as the sex links lay a lot of eggs, but they only do it for a short period and then burn out. Are ducks the same way? I guess Welsh Harlequins and Khaki Campbells are heritage breed ducks, but with their high egg production, do they burn out sooner? I'm interested in the Harlequins and I know they go broody, so maybe that helps extend their laying life, but I guess there's still only a certain amount of eggs in there. I'm not keeping these for pets, so I have no problem with eating them when their laying life is over, but I was just curious what I could expect that laying life to be. Thanks.
