Egg laying interupted

I have always loved all animals, so my husband was sweet enough to allow me to finally have chickens this year. Yay! We have 6 beautiful girls who are aproximately 20 wks old now...one of our girls suddenly started laying, but after five days, no egg was layed. Is this normal? If all are basically same age, why has she begun to lay and not the others?

Just like not all human females will start their period at the same age, not all chickens will lay at the same age. Also most good laying hens take a day or two off a week, so a break after 5 days is normal.

A hen does have s day or hat she doesn't lay. And all hens lay different. No set age on laying. Their combs start getting bright red before they lay. You also may see them squatting when they're almost ready to lay.

Each chicken is different, and some mature faster. It takes a while for production to get working so you end up with an egg a day, more or less. Just be patient. And enjoy the chickens.

I have 1 that laid her first egg, second one was three days later, third one was three days later, forth was two days ,then Fifth was two days later. It takes time for there little body's to get regular. Don't worry they will get regular as they mature
