egg laying issues

My wife and i are new to backyard chickens...but we love this forum!

I have an 18wk EE that has been laying for 3 wks. Yesterday she laid a double yolk. Today she laid a reg egg around 11, a soft shell around 745pm, and 20min later she laid a shell less egg. Is this something i should be concerned ab?

It sounds like she is still getting a hang of the whole laying thing. Sometimes hens will do this early in their laying. However, it is taxing, so offer some scrambled eggs with ground egg shell in them to help give her the vitamins and calcium she needs.

How much light are they getting a day?

They get ab 14hrs a day. We have been giving them egg shells and oysters shell!

Shouldn't be a problem, happens once in while with new layers, it can take up to a month or so for things to smooth out to 'normal'.
