Egg laying mystery

Hello everyone,

I have a mystery that I need help solving. Here’s the rundown.

I have one Amaraucauna hen. She usually lays an egg once every two or three days. However, she wasn’t laying for a couple of weeks. I have not seen a blue egg in a while.

Then, all the sudden, today, I saw this in the nesting box.

All of these blue eggs were not here yesterday, as far as I know.

Here’s where the mystery comes in. How did one Amaraucauna lay six eggs in one day? I looked all over for a couple of days, and I could not find any blue eggs. All these eggs appeared out of nowhere!

My only hypothesis is she was temporarily egg bound.

Any idea of what happened?

Not sure what happened, but I can assure you that one hen did not lay 6 eggs in a day.

What other breeds of and how many pullets/hens do you have, and how old are they?

Mystery solved. It turns out nobody collected eggs in about a week, myself included. They just piled up as the days went on.

I feel sheepish.
