Egg Laying

Hi Y'all,

New to this chicken thing. We have 8 chickens (1 Buff Orpington, 1 Red Sex Link, 3 Production Blues, 3 Easter Eggers). Got our very first egg on Wednesday from one of the Easter Gals, and she has laid one every day since. I am 99% it's her because of behavior. She's been the only one spending time in the hen house during the day.

When should we expect the rest to begin laying? Is it normal for one chicken to start laying noticeably before the others? Thank for any information.

Edit: The chicks are just over 6 months old.

You don't give an age on the birds - they all mature at different rates of speed. Congratulations on the start of laying.

You're right. They are all just over 6 months old.
