egg laying

ok watching utube and on 2 diffrent vidos they stated hens dont start laying eggs till there 8 to 9 months old but I read more like 4 to 6 months so on avrage when should we start having eggs

Our hens started laying at 4 months of age. It depends on the breed, some start sooner than others. Signs to look for include "squatting" of the hens and red comb/wattle. Also experimenting with sitting in the nest boxes.
