Not sure where to post this, but here here goes...

I've been wondering for AGES - is the nutrition different for different breeds of chicken (duck, goose, etc.)? A friend once told me that EEs are the healthiest with highest protein and lowest cholesterol, but I've never found any information to confirm or deny.

Does anyone know where I can find info about egg nutrition? And is it possible to test my own eggs? I *know* they are better than store-bought, but I'd love the facts to back up my gut feeling :-)

They had a article in Backyard Poultry magazine about it, I can't remember which month issue, may be you could go on their website, and find the article?

I can't say between the different species of birds such as chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and so on. I know I've seen nutritional profiles on a couple of their eggs, but I've never compared and contrasted them.

As for the different breeds and varieties within Gallus gallus (chickens) there is no difference assuming they are all fed and managed the same way. It's the feed and management that makes the difference.

.....Alan.

I'd add foraging as a factor, too. My best forager has the orangest yolks of all. I think it's all the insects and insect eggs she eats.
