ok, anyone come across this? an egg or tumor? laid by my serama Josie, i cut it open and here is what was there-

otherwise she is normal

It's called a 'lash' and it is a passing of various debris from the egg laying tract. It can be a sign of illness but usually is just a 'clean out' and is nothing to worry about unless there are other symptoms of illness with it. I have had two in all my time of chicken keeping and both girls behaved perfectly normally afterwards with no break or change in their egg laying capacity, though I have heard that they can be laid by elderly hens who are going out of lay completely.
