Egg prices have people doing crazy things!

My mother has never expressed any interest in my chickens or even gone out to look at them over the years I have had them. However, this visit she is outside checking my chicken’s nesting boxes several times a day, following my chickens around with an egg basket begging them to lay eggs and telling the chickens how pretty they are. I have been sipping tea watching her through the window amused at someone who used to scoff at farming following my chickens around giving them compliments in the hopes that they lay more eggs Anyone else see anyone doing crazy things for eggs since prices went up?

When I was waiting for my first egg, hubby jokingly said, "Squeeze them harder. Maybe an egg will pop out."

Yes it reminds me of Covid when everybody panic bought chickens. Or boredom bought chickens. Whatever the reason it seems like everyone is hoarding chickens. I’m totally going to make a pot of tea and wait for all the “my chickens have stopped laying” posts in a couple years.

I can't say I've done anything crazy myself nor have I heard of anyone doing anything crazy (only thing i can think of is a few neighbors stopping me on my way home to ask for eggs) but that is hilarious xD

They're probably thinking "who is this crazy lady and what is she doing?" Lol

I have not met your mom, nor am I likely to, but I love her and want to hug her. I bet she is a hoot!

That's so sweet! Did she also talk to your houseplants too, encouraging them to grow? Mine did, but she said she knew it was because our breath is good for them. We used to think she made that up.
