Today, when I opened m coops door, I got a mega surprise! Sitting there, was a small blue egg! I don't mean just a small egg, I mean one the size of a small cotton ball! The last time I opened the coop doors, was at 10:30 am, and now its 9:00 pm. I was just getting in to clean their coop, and it was right there by the door! Just lying there, like it had dropped, with a large circular crack in it. I don't know if maybe a robin had gotten trapped in there, and layed an egg, its happened before to sparrows, maybe it was a sparrow egg?
I doubt it could have been a chicken egg, because my girls have been laying for about a year now. They are Americanas, but the small egg had such a brilliant deep blue, different from the others. it also had no spots like a normal Robin egg, but it was kinda rough of the top. Any suggestions? Could my girls have layed this?

Thanks!

They may have. I found an egg that was smaller than a dime the other day. It had rough spots on the top too. It was probably from a bantam pullet.

They probably rolled it there. My hens won't let the pullets into the boxes (they stand there and guard them) so they lay in the prairie hay on the ground. New hens are usually a little confused and will lay anywhere they are comfy. If it was right there on the floor they may have rolled it to the door because it is so small.

Whoever laid it should grow out of it. Sometimes changes in diet can affect eggs and their shape. And who knows maybe one hen wasn't laying yet and just started. My hens didn't start laying for a year, last year.
