My red golden has started laying but it has been getting down to aroubd 40 degrees at night here. Will they be ok? I have been trying to collect her eggs evry day but sometimes I am unable and it sits overnight. Will it still be viable?

My Red Goldens seem to usually lay later in the evening, so I always give them an evening snack and collect their eggs then. Sometimes though, they lay really late, where it's almost completely dark and I've already made sure the pen is secure. If that happens and they're already roosting, I just get the egg(s) the next day (I don't want to scare them at night) - I haven't any problems, but I live in NC and it's warmer here.

I would say it depends on if you are selling them to folks or trying to hatch them yourself. It is best to collect them several times a day for either, but more important for good conscience to do it if you are selling them. 50-55 is optimal, and anything outside of that will be less than optimal, but not neccessarily critical if that makes sense.
