Hello everyone!
I have read the threads about feeding the girls egg shells and I am tickled to learn that I can. I wash mine out, put them in a coffee tin and will give them to the girls once a week. But what I did miss, and I know I missed it, is at what age can I feed the girls the eggs. They are 3 months old now. Thank you all for the wonderful advice you give to us newbies. I wouldn't have been able to do this if it wasn't for you all.
Sincerely,
Viola

I give my 4 young BA ladies (12-13 weeks) one hard-boiled egg about twice a week only. What I do is I put the whole egg in the dish and using a strong fork I smash the entire thing up, shell and all. This is their 'egg shell' treat for the week. Other than that they get their grit at all times. I'll switch to oyster shell once they start laying!

Don't "switch" to oyster shell. Keep giving grit and add oyster shell. They are two different things and each has its own purpose. One is for digestion (grit) and one is for calcium for the egg shell (oyster shell). Grit does not dissolve. Oyster shell does.

Unless you are talking about switching from the hard-boiled egg to oyster shell. No reason that can't still have both. :)
