Egg Sitting

Does anyone know if quails (specifically button) start sitting on eggs as soon as the 1st one is layed? Or do they wait to lay a whole clutch then do the sitting there after? How many eggs usually make a clutch?

They wait till they have a clutch. Mine usually lay 7-10 before sitting, though I've read somewhere that around 5 is usual.

Thanks! I have 2 new females and they haven't sat yet. I'm hoping they'll sit once done and ready. They just hid their eggs too so I'm guessing they've built a nest somewhere.
