These hens are three years old or so.That's very common if they are new to laying. The very first egg I got was 17 grams.

I have 16% perhaps I should increase to 20 but I didn’t even see 20 in the feed store. The other thing is I only give them feed in the coop. I had a rat problem last year. They have a very large run and are probably out there and not going in for feed.I read a couple of threads about it, because I can see a lot of variation even in a weeks time. They seemed to say it can relate to age, cycles in laying, and diet, specifically the amount of protein.
