it has been over 30 days on my button quail setting, so i took the eggs away and my hen (Nova) pushed them back in, my mom suggested that i crack open an egg to see what happened, i was not hesitant, because the last two times she went broody the eggs were not fertile. so to my horrification, i opened the egg to find a fully formed dead chick inside. i was so terrifiyed i ran out my door and threw the egg/dead chick outside, i am wondering what went wrong, i have such i dedicated broody hen. but always unsuccessful, before it was the males fault. but now what happened? HELP! Suggestions?

There are dozens of possibilities. Breeder nutrition is among them.
I realize that you're talking quail and the following is about chickens but the rules still apply.
Read through the list of reasons an embryo will fail prior to hatch.

i think they died when i accidentally knocked over their nesting house. it scared her out of her wits. she didn't get back on for several hours.
Oh Darn...Possibly the banging around killed the eggs. Sorry that happened.
