Sorry, I didn't know what topic to put this under. Also, I searched before posting but couldn't find what I was looking for. I know all about the bloom, how to wash an egg, that they have to be refrigerated if you do, etc. My question is, do they really need to be washed before you eat them? Two of my girls recently began laying and I have not washed my eggs. Some are telling me that's a no-no and they need to be. Thanks for any input.

I always wash poopy eggs.

I never wash eggs that aren’t.

While they have for sure been in contact with the same stuff….. it’s a mental barrier I won’t break myself from.

Now….. you’re cooking said eggs. Even if the shells were covered in green smudges, your cook temperature makes the bad stuff they’re worried about a moot issue.

I will continue cracking them really get from basket on counter to the skillet.

No, you do not have to wash your eggs before you eat them. I don't wash my eggs unless they are dirty or one of the hens have pooped on them. :)
