Suspicions confirmed via eggtopsy: he's dead. There was still tons of yoke left. He was for sure alive last night, though. Now I'm depressed! That's two dozen eggs I've gotten from them with no success. Ugh. These local guys had better hatch.
I'm so sorry he passed, I'm sure it wasn't anything you'd done, it sounded like the air cell was so severely damaged it's impressive he made it as far as he did.
I bet those local eggs will do a lot better! 0 percent hatching with shipped eggs isn't that uncommon. Shipping can be really hard on eggs, I've heard sometimes certain shipping hubs can be especially bad so if you consistently get really bad hatch rates from shipped eggs from different places it could be a nearby hub is too hard on them. Packing really well does go a long way though. If you see multiple bubbles floating around when you first get your eggs chances are they got very damaged and aren't going to hatch well. Eggs with detached and loose air cells while still much more difficult than local eggs stand more of a chance.
With shipped eggs there are things you can do to try to help repair some of the damage in eggs with detached or loose air cells though.
