Since Tuesday night my dark buff silkie pullet, Spice, has shown very movement, eating, or drinking. I started off with the idea that she might bound with an egg. I checked her with vasoline to find no egg in her vet, but a large quantity of white and yellow fluid came out. I did place her into a epson salt bath for 10 minutes followed by .20 cc or syringes of 23% calcium. By Wednesday she ceased to be able to walk and drank very little from her water apple cyder vinegar mix (from 1 gal water and 1 tbs apple cyder vinegar). By Thursday I noticed she swelled up like a balloon around her abdomen and crop. At this point I deducted it must be egg yolk peritonis, so I gave her .7 cc of Cephalexin and .1 cc of diluted Ibprofin. Now on Friday she can scoot around her box indoors and is taking small bits of water and yogurt. She feels incredibly heavy from the fluid build up and greenish yellow liquid is seeping from her vent. She also no longer goes to the bathroom. I don't know what I should do next.

If she's not pooping, it's an emergency. I would suspect egg binding still.

Can you take her to a vet? Draining her abdomen might relieve pressure, but it doesn't sound good. I'm so sorry. Poor little thing....

The first appointment is on Monday at 10 am. I am taking time off from work to bring her. Avian vets aren't open over the holidays. I given her multiple doses of liquid calcium without any success.

Then inflammation or worm load? Something is blocking her up. Are you still giving antibiotics? And when did you last worm her?

EYP is almost always fatal, unfortunately.

I dewormed her about 2 months ago. I gave her .1 cc of Ivermectin this morning in case she might be suffering from round worm. I started her on Cephalexin yesterday. I believe she should be operated on to correct this issue. I've given her Ibprofin, epson salt, calcium, Cephalexin, and Ivermectin. I haven't cut into her to relieve the pressure.

I even treated her for an impacted crop. The belly swell and green yellow fluid existing her cloaca indicated it is peritonitis.

Sounds like she won't make it until monday unless you can drain off some of the fluid. If there is a feed store nearby you can hopefully get a 1/2 inch needle and syringe. I use an 18 gauge needle but if you suspect the fluid will be thick and yolky, you might want to get the next size up to help it drain easier. There are some videos on youtube to show how it's done. Since she is so swollen it's very unlikely that you could hit an organ with the needle trying to drain her. Infection is possible but at this point I think the pressure on her organs from the fluid build up is the biggest danger.
