Does Eggbid work like eBay, where when its over its over, and you can bid 5 seconds before its over and then its over? Or does it work like Lily Auction, which extends the bidding for 5 minutes after the last bid, no matter when the last bid is, so that if you make a bid 5 seconds before the end of the auction, the auction will be extended for 4 minutes 55 seconds.

It can go either way. The seller gets to choose what will happen.

(If you go to eggbid and "pretend" you're going to sell something, you can see the whole selling format without actually having to list something. At the end, it says 'dynamic bid time (minutes)' and then a check box to click enabled. That's where the seller would decide.)

So how does the bidder know why type auction it is?

It should say at the bottom of the seller's page. You can choose to either proxy bid or english bid, if you click on the highlighted tabs, it will take you to an explanation.

I dont think proxy or english bids have anything to do with dynamic bids, tho.

Maybe you could email eggbid and ask them...

I know they take a LONGG time to get back to you, but it might actually help. Let us know if you do find out. I never really thought about it with eggbid. I haven't found too many people that bid last minute on eggbid usually.

Or you could ask the seller if they enabled dynamic bidding, which would probably get you a faster response.
