My friend who keeps chickens collaborated with my hubs on a surprise for me!
She has a single chicken because its companion was killed by a raccoon a few weeks ago.
She's going to babysit any laying chicken I am able to find, and let me have all the eggs from it.
Then when I get my coop built, "my" chicken can come here to live if I want.
If I don't want to bring it home - say I can't bond with it, don't like how it behaves, or I decide to hatch eggs instead - she will just keep it as a replacement for the one she lost!
Isn't that great?!
I'm emailing several chicken-sellers on Craigslist today!
