Hi Everyone!

New chicken mama here! I was wondering if there were any signs I can watch out for that my pullets are going to lay.I have 2 Buff Orpington, 4 Easter Eggers, and 2 black Jersey giants. They are all 18 weeks today. I also have 2 serama hens 1 serama roo and a partridge and painted silkie because well you know chicken math;). Thanks for your help in advance.

They'll start looking for where they should lay out of curiosity. Basically there aren't too many signs other than an egg

There are actually quite a few signs of them getting ready to lay. Combs and wattles will get bigger and redder. Pullets should(but not always will) squat when you walk up to them. They will need to be on a good layer feed or an all flock feed with oyster shell on the side. Open the nesting boxes and put fake eggs in if they aren't already. And have fun. Discovering that first egg is like Christmas morning!
