This is my third attempt on duck eggs. My first two batches were last year, both were call duck eggs for someone else. I never hatched anything from last year.

This group was 24 eggs, all "mixed fertile duck eggs" from the auction. Surprisingly, there are about 18 of them that are in the hatcher. They're due the 12th, but I opened the bator to add water (it was at 40%, though when I checked this morning it was much higher, and I had added even more water through the holes) and saw one egg looked rotten. I pulled it out and candled it to make sure. I don't see any veins and it doesn't seem to be moving, but I can see a fully formed duckling in it. When I was putting it back, I saw that one of the others was pipped! I put the other egg back in and then peeked through the window to see four others were pipped. I just hope to goodness that the little guys hatch!

Good luck with the hatch..yours will just beat mine out of the eggs... I have some who have their beaks in the air sacs this morning.

My wood duck eggs should hatch any day now! I see them moving in the egg, but still no pips...I can't wait any longer!

I have a bunch of Pekins and Runners due to hatch on the 12th too!

Good luck with your hatch! And remember its against the law (lol) to brag about ducklings and not have pics up!

HUGSSSSS

Isn't that funny! Keep us updated on your hatch! I'll post pictures once someone hatches, provided I can get one through the crappy LG window, lol. All that I know about mine is that they're "mixed", some eggs are HUGE and the one egg that I saw had a black beak. I think most will be dark, I can see some really dark birds in the eggs, though, come to think of it, I'm not sure if I could differentiate between dark and light feathers while in the egg... But, these eggs are really thin, I can see some of them in there without candling.

The one guy has his head out. It looks like it's either deformed or crested (or both, depending on how you look at it). I assume that it's crested (*hope* I should say). It has the markings of a Swedish duck, and looks to be black. This'll be even more interesting than I had thought! Gotta love mystery eggs!

I have Runners.. There was 13 in this lot... with 12 in the hatcher now- but only ten look promising. The other two are still alive but very small. These are some of the first eggs from young layers. I know its not good to set them too early- But I was so impatient. I have one little one hatched Saturday- Who will be going to work each day with me until these next eggs hatch and he has some company.

I have a few beaks in air cells now, and can hear some chattering going on inside the eggs.
