Hi,

My eggs are currently starting to hatch. The egg on the image started hatching around 16 hours ago - does it look normal? Today is day 21.

Do i need to do anything to help? I haven't seen the beak etc come out of the membrane at any point.

Thanks in advance

It is a crack. It looks a little dry though so couldn't say if it can get air. Still making noise and moving as of now.

Put some coconut oil, or olive oil on the exposed membrane so it won't dry out too much. It is hard work for the chick to get out of that egg, some times they will rest before starting to push and peck their way out again.
Can you candle (with a flashlight in a dark area) and see if the chick is in the correct position (head near the air sack?
The chick seems to be trying to get out, I would moisturize the membrane and give it some more time before I tried to help.

I have just candled and it appears the hole is not where the air sac is. See image attached.

Any advice?

First moisturize the membrane that is showing with coconut oil if you have some. Then make a small hole in the membrane where the tear is, as that is probably where the chicks beak is. If you see blood stop, just slowly try to open a very small hole in the membrane. The moisturizing is important so the membrane doesn't shrink wrap the chick
