I posted about this hen before because she was broody for six weeks before I gave her eggs to hatch. She was a great mama hen and stayed on the nest until the hatched. The eggs had hatched by Sunday morning. Now it's Friday and she's barely left the nest. Is this normal? I thought she'd stay there for maybe 2-3 days and then get more active. I have enclosed a 2' wide by 5' long area with food and water and her nest box inside of the coop. There is two piles of massive broody mama poop and some tiny baby poops so I know they've ventured out for food, but it's apparent she's still fluffed up and clucking. Only two babies hatched and I left an unhatched egg under her until Monday before disposing of it.

There are no eggs left under her? I have only had successful broody hens a few times but they always got up and moving within a few days with the new chicks. She might just be taking extra good care of them. As long as she and the chicks are eating/drinking it shouldn't be a bad thing.

I don't know what an attentive chicken mother looks like, but she moves to let them under her chest and otherwise ignores the chicks. I'm concerned them hatching didn't snap her out of her broodiness.
