eggs haven’t pipped

Hello everyone! So my friend is hatching ducklings right now and they’re on day 27. There is still been no pipping. I know this is probably normal, but just wanted to check in and make sure. They’ve been wiggling a little. Is it normal for them not to have pipped? I incubated ducklings many times before, but I’m not sure I recall what time they piped the last few times I’ve incubated them. I haven’t really kept track.

Any help would be very appreciated! Thank you!

Yes it’s normal especially if this is their first time hatching. If they are wiggling they most likely will end up with some pipped by morning.

Incubation time depends on species, breed, and temperature (colder is longer), even shipping can add time. As long as you aren’t way beyond the reasonable date give them a bit more time! Quail are supposed to hatch day 17, I’ve had them hatch day 15 and day 20, most batches hatch together (over a day or two) assuming common conditions and your incubator temp is fairly consistent (or the eggs are moving around therein$.

Please don’t help your eggs hatch! Especially right off the bat! You’ll cause more harm than good, tincture of time will do much!

No I wouldn’t. Most first time hatchers end up with delayed hatches due to not having pre-calibrated thermometers and hygrometers inside the incubator along with miscounting the initial day the eggs were set.

The breed is runner duck, the eggs were not shipped(she got them from me), and the incubator is at 99.5.
