Hi everyone!
I've incubated a small batch of bought eggs laid the same day before, but we recently acquired a rooster.

So this spring I decided to let the rooster into the hen area to breed. I keep him separate because eating fertile eggs isn't very appetising to my husband.

Now, the rooster spent a month in the hen house doing his thing and every day on the 3rd week I was
getting on average 9 eggs a day.
I own 3 little giant incubators and one homemade one.

So here's my question.
After holding the daily eggs up for no more than 5 days, I dated each egg.
? Do I begin my incubator 21 day count for each individual date or do I just begin counting the day that all the eggs were placed into the incubator?
Thanks!

The easiest way to think about it is if you set eggs on a Monday, they'll hatch on a Monday. That is 21 days after you set them. If all the conditions are correct, if you set at noon, they should hatch close to noon 3 weeks hence.

For your husband, open a fertilized egg and an infertile egg and ask him to tell you the difference. There really isn't. Which begs the question, why do some people only want to buy fertile eggs to eat?

2x ChickenCanoe ... You start your count the day after you set the eggs, at the same time, not having to deal with staggered hatching dates. So if you set/put in the incubator on a Sunday, Monday is day 1.

Here's a good one, my Mom won't eat the eggs my BOs produce and I have no Roo. She buys her eggs

Thank you, that's what I thought but then talked myself into being unsure about laid dates.

My don't have any neighbors here like your mom, most of my neighbors like our eggs better than store bought, they say ours taste better.
I just had to stop giving eggs away to try hatching our own, rooster was removed from hens last week so I can go back to sharing unfertile eggs again in a few more weeks.

I had a few BOs, need to get more. One was such a devoted brooder, she often cared for up to 15 eggs until pip day, we would take them and put them in a heat box in the garage because other hens were not too friendly with the babies.

Since your husband probably doesn't know how long they can remain fertile, just tell him that they are no longer fertile. Save a couple of your current eggs, put the rooster back for a couple days. Then after he has enjoyed eggs for a few days, tell him they were fertile.
